The Restaurant

Tune in tonite at 10 p.m. Eastern on NBC for the 2 episode of Season 2 of The Restaurant (reading the link will get you up to date on the show). I saw this last season and it was GREAT! Reality TV in the restaurant business. But this is for real - The chef and his accountant are suing each other as we speak and perhaps we will get lucky and even see a Season 3 (although this looks somewhat doubtful, especially considering the fine character of the financial guy). Check it out. (It's up against that fine show CSI Miami (gag), so if you're one of the 20 million who watch it, then you'll miss the better show on NBC).

If you like watching the restaurant business and enjoy good food, also check out the book Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. (If you're easily offended by four letter words, you may wish to skip this book.). :) But, if you can tolerate that, then you'll find out what it's like to run a restaurant in crazy NYC, written in a very engaging style. (If you're ever in NYC, you should try Les Halles, where Anthony is Executive Chef).

Quote of the Day
"I believe in an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out."
Arthur Hays Sulzberger

Oddly Enough
Berlin has introduced five talking waste bins which say thank you in three different languages or scream "goal" to help promote a cleaner city. (The Germans do some strange things!)

and from Mexico, comes the story of this lucky fella:
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A Mexican man who got drunk, fell asleep on railroad tracks and was run over by a train slept through the entire episode and escaped unharmed, local officials said on Friday.
